Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Delos Internet and other providers?
Delivery and speed are the primary difference. Businesses generally turn to T1 (DS1) and T3 (DS3) circuits for better service level agreements and higher reliability, but the technology is over 50 years old and has become less reliable and much too slow to keep up with today's data demands. T1's and T3's are comprised of the local loop (the connection from your business back to the telephone company's central office) and the provider's circuit. The local loop is provided by the local telephone company and the other end of the circuit will be routed to a provider. Thus, your Internet T1 contains a local telephone company portion of the circuit and an Internet provider part of the circuit owned by your ISP.

Delos Internet operates and manages its own network and does not lease copper from the local telephone company, so there are no loop charges. This allows us to offer much higher speeds at a fraction of the cost. Since Delos Internet bypasses the aging telephone line infrastructure, network reliability, latency and jitter are drastically improved.

Why is Internet service through the cable company so cheap?
The cable company provides residents and small businesses high speed access at discounted prices by cutting out guaranteed service. The speeds are "Up to" the rate they advertised, which means its not guaranteed at all times. This is because the service is shared by everyone in the area. They do not provide a SLA (Service Level Agreement) that includes 24x7 monitoring, support and immediate dispatch of a tecnician in the event of an outage. Can your business afford to be down for days at a time?

Cable Internet is better suited for a small business that needs only basic e-mail and web connectivity. If you rely on the Internet for your business to run smoothly, then look for a product with guaranteed services for peace of mind.

Do you provide private connections?
Yes. We can provide high speed private point-to-point connectivity as well as Internet, and there is no need to have seperate circuits installed either.

How long does it take to install?
For customers already in one of our On-Net office buildings, installation can be done in as little as 1-2 days. For Off-Net customers, installation can take anywhere from 7 to 21 days depending on the complexity of the installation.

We want to use Delos Internet as a secondary link. Do you offer BGP?
Yes. We offer BGP as well as DNS hosting. Our AS number is #46699.

Do you offer temporary links for events or construction projects?
Absolutely. One of the advantages of using microwave is the ability to provide high speed service to any location that has a line of site to our POP, and have it up and running in a matter of hours.
